Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Course
The Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Course jointly organised by Hong Kong Chapter, American College of Surgeons & The University of Hong Kong will soon be held. It aims at improving the care for the surgical patient. The Course teaches well-established treatment methods and approaches trauma care in a systematic manner, presenting to the doctor a concise method of establishing assessment and management priorities in the care of the trauma patient.
Effective from 1 July 2010, newly registered Higher Surgical Trainees in Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Neurosurgery admitted from 1 July 2010 onwards must complete this course prior to the enrolment to Fellowship Examination in respective specialty of the College.
The Student Course is a two-and-half-day course, consisting of pre- and post-course tests, core content lectures, case presentations, discussions, development of life-saving manipulative skills, practical laboratory experience, and a final performance proficiency evaluation. Successful applicants will receive a Letter of Confirmation and a Reply Slip. The Reply Slip must be returned to the Centre on or before the deadline as specified. Once confirmed, the registration is not transferrable. |
