Abstract submissions are now being accepted. Don¡¦t miss this chance to showcase your academic work and expertise to fellow colleagues.
The deadline for submission is 14 July 2017.

We welcome Fellows, Members and Trainees to submit your presentation abstract and participate in the Oral/Motion Picture sessions/Poster Presentations during the Congress and compete for the

1. Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh China Medal
to the best paper in Clinical Study,

2. Best Scientific Paper Award
to the best paper in Basic Science Research,

3. Best Motion Picture Award,

Eligibility:
The above awards are opened to Fellows, Members and Trainees. Presenting author of the accepted abstract for award competition must be 40 years old or younger by 24 September 2017.

Abstract Submission Guideline

You are invited to submit abstracts for consideration by the Scientific Committee for Oral, Poster or Motion Picture presentation. Please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting your abstract:

1. The abstract must be written in ENGLISH.

2. The abstract should NOT exceed 250 words.

3. Title should be typed in CAPITALS and BOLD. Do not underline the title.

4. Authors' names should be typed in CAPITALS and followed by the name and full address of the institution where the scientific work was undertaken. Underline the name of the presenting author.

5. The content of the abstract should start without an indent and should include:
i) Aim
ii) Methods
iii) Results
iv) Conclusion

6. You should submit abstract in the domain of either Clinical Study or Basic Science Research. The best paper of Clinical study will be awarded the RCSEd China Medal. The best paper of Basic Science Research will be awarded the Best Scientific Paper Award. The best poster will be awarded the Best Poster Award. The best motion picture will be awarded the Best Motion Picture Award.

7. Presenting author of the accepted abstract for award competition must be members, Trainees or Fellows not more than 6 years of post-fellowship.

8. Abstract selection will be evaluated by the following criteria:
i) Originality
ii) Experimental Design
iii) Results/Presentation
iv) Scientific/ Clinical Value

9. The acceptance of a paper by the Scientific Committee implies that this or similar material by you or your colleagues has not been and will not be submitted to any other journal before its appearance in Surgical Practice. The abstract which is the same as a published full manuscript will not be accepted. The usual peer review process will be applied.

10. Please submit the abstract by one of the following methods.
I)Email attachment in Microsoft Word format together with the abstract submission form to abstract@cshk.org
ii)Mail with the abstract on a CD/DVD together with a hard copy together with the abstract submission form to Room 601, Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Jockey Club Building, 99 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Aberdeen, Hong Kong

11. Accepted abstracts will be presented at the
RCSEd/CSHK Conjoint Scientific Congress 2017
on 23-24 September 2017.

Guideline to Motion Picture Submission

1. For motion picture submission, please submit BOTH
i) Abstract describing the motion picture adhering to the above guideline (in Microsoft word format)
ii) Motion Picture (in video format)

2. The duration of the Motion Picture submitted should NOT exceed 8 minutes.

3. English narrations should be included

4. If any music is used in the video, both the composer and the artist performing the piece should be cited.

5. After admission to Motion Picture, NO change will be allowed in the content of Motion Picture.

Call for Grand Round Cases

Call for Interesting Cases for Surgical Grand Round Session
Submission Deadline: 14 July 2017


The Scientific Committee is appealing to local participants for interesting cases with educational value for the Interactive Surgical Grand Round session.
Surgical Grand Round is a case-based session with interaction among expert panel, presenter and audience. We welcome your sharing of experience on common or uncommon surgical scenario with educational value, interesting operation or cases with unexpected outcome.

This is an invaluable opportunity to discuss and share your experience in managing special surgical scenarios with your fellow colleagues. We look forward to your participation!
