President's Message

Dear Colleagues,

I feel very humbled and privileged to be elected as the President of The College of Surgeons of Hong Kong. Apart from the honour, I am truly thankful to you for entrusting me with the leadership and substantial responsibility.

All great organizations are built on the sustained hard work, dedication, and tireless efforts of many individuals over a prolonged period. I am very blessed to be in the awe of the efforts and vision of my predecessors who have laid down legacies which I can lean on and expand, and to continue the momentum and course with the support by a robust Council.

The College has had, and will continue to have, a profound impact on the standard of surgical practice in the community. It is essential that we strive to sustain our high-quality surgical training, education, and assessment so as to maintain a state-of-the-art, safe, and reliable surgical care for our patients. With many pressing challenges for the profession ahead, it is more important than ever that the surgical fraternity be united to face these challenges as well as to scale new heights for our profession.

Allow me to take this opportunity to register special thanks to our Immediate Past President, Dr Heng-tat LEONG, for his remarkable leadership and contributions, and departing Councillors Prof. Philip Wai-yan CHIU, Prof. Simon Siu-man NG, Dr Siu-kee LEUNG, and Prof. Ming-kwong YIU for their wise counsel, infallible support and dedicated service to the College. Their longstanding commitment and everlasting friendship were extremely precious.

The new Council was formed at our Annual General Meeting on 17 September 2022. I would also like to congratulate and welcome our newly elected Office Bearers and Councillors. May I introduce the new Council to you:
